The Final Game

 

Todd Jones put the United States on the scoreboard with a 10-yards touchdown reception and Ray Reyes added the conversion for an 8-0 lead. Todd Jones then scored on a 5-yards catch and the Americans later increased the lead to 20-0 after Todd Jones hauled in a 50-yards pass before lateralling to Ray Tarranto for the TD. Brian Finn accounted for the conversion and the U.S. held a commanding 22-0 advantage. Ed Freemond accounted for the final scoring when he sacked the Canadian quarterback for a safety.

 

 

Recap

 

The reigning United States champions captured the 2000 World Cup of Flag Football title with a 22-0 whitewashing over Canada completing a successful 9Man Ineligible tournament.

In the semifinals, the United States defeated Mexico 32-12 and Canada posted a 13-6 triumph over Argentina. The U.S. and Argentina received opening-round byes but Mexico and Canada advanced in quarterfinal action with wins against Germany and Venzuela respectively.

In the Women's Championship, Mexico led 7-6 at halftime before eventually shellacking USA 28-6.

In the 10-teams Open Tournament, FlagMag.com defeated Texcoco of Mexico City 19-6. Earlier, FlagMag.com defeated Vaqueros 33-0 in the semifinals.

In the 12-teams Women's Open Tournament, Aguilas Blancas of Mexico City defeated FlagMag.com 24-6. Semifinals action saw Aguilas Blancas rock Chiapas 46-6 and FlagMag.com edged Simply Marvelous of Florida A&M 22-21.

The International Flag Football Federation conducted its second meeting at the World Cup and seven countries were represented. They agreed to hold next year's World Cup in the United States.
