THE Ft LAUDERDALE STORY

The IFFF Regional qualifier that took place this past weekend in Ft Lauderdale lived up to its expectations. With so far the best talent at any of our events and an extremely positive youth and female sector we can claim it to be a very successful tournament so far. Teams such as the Florida Stingrays, Alliance, NH, Raw Talent, The Gators and ELY M both adults and youth have been to our World Cup and this showed at the qualifier. In the Youth section Ely M dominated, although all the other teams possessed good talent and were entertaining. The women's section in both 7Man and 4Man were clearly won by the Florida Stingrays the rest of the teams did put up a fight but couldn't compete against a well drilled outfit. The Stingrays used this tournament as a warm up for the Boston event where much stronger Canadian competition will be present. In the 7man men's sector the Alliance from NH a known 8Man team surprised the Florida talent that are renown for playing the 7Man category by reaching the finals and then beating Ely M 7-6 in a very close encounter. The biggest sector was the 4Man that was divided into an A/B category. Most of the games were extremely close in the A Div playoffs with the Alliance team eased out by finalist Legion of Doom, FL that only lost by a score in the finals to In the Zone led by Team USA receiver Angel. In the B Division playoffs the Young Guns did really well to beat the talent in their sector and came out winners beating X rated 26 -12. In summary the talent was very good, the weather was a beauty, the youth were exciting and added value to the qualifier so we will give this event an A+.

Nov 13th,2003
The IFFF World Cup Regional qualifier is taking place in Ft Lauderdale, FL this weekend and looks action packed without even a ball being thrown. This year a team from the New England area (Alliance, NH) is flying in to compete against the talented Florida outfits that have over the years competed extremely well at our past tourneys. The event consists of a youth, women’s and men’s division participating in 7man, 5man and 4man respectively over the one day tournament. Just like most of our regional tournaments around the USA we have our veterans that always come back to participate (we salute you) and then the new blood that want to become part of the World Cup event. From our twelve already successful qualifiers, over 70 teams have qualified to play in the World Cup that takes place in the Dominican Republic in Feb, 2004. At our last World Cup the women’s 7man division was won by a Florida based team (The Stingrays) and they will be present again at our qualifier this weekend. We also have two 4man teams from Rhode Island and New Hampshire (Mr. Steer) unbeaten in 34 league games in their area and will be huge competition for all the teams from Florida. The incentive behind the event will be for the teams to play in the World Cup where competition comes from Mexico, Canada, South America and Europe, a great gathering of flag football players without a doubt. Also very interesting is that we have a lot of new teams illustrating that a new breed of flag football players will be embraced by the experience we are offering. Our Florida qualifiers are always exciting and action packed with speed, agility and skill and we are expecting the same this weekend
