Snow Falls on the World Qualifiers in Boston

     For the 3^rd time in 5 years, snow fell down on the World Cup Qualifiers in Boston last weekend.  But the show went on as scheduled, as all 29 teams battled it out in the snow.  And what a battle it was, as almost every game was close.

     Kicking things off Sunday was the 8-Man Gold Division, which saw team Alibrandis (Everett, MA) handily take out FOD 34-14, the Red Dawgs 21-0, and the Vikings 27-18 in the Championship to win the Gold division title.  With the win, team Alibrandis now moves on to the World Cup Tournament, along with the Vikings, Hitsquad, and Red Dawgs.

     Next up in the 8-Man Silver Division, the Local 926 Firefighters (Revere, MA) rode a stifling defense in wins over the Marauders 19-0, Fed Ex 13-12, and the Dempseys 21-0 to win the Silver Division crown.  The Local 926 Firefighters now advance to the World Cup Tournament, with the Dempseys qualifying as well. 

     And wrapping up the 8-Man pool was the Youth 16-under Division,

which saw Metro Sports (Manchester, NH) dominate their way to the title with

wins over the Reddawgs 30-0, and the Backhanders 19-6 in the

Championship game. 

     Next up in the 4-Man Divisions, EastSide Mafia (Laurel, MD) took care of

business in wins over the BlackOuts 19-6, and #1 Autobody 26-6 in the title

game, to win the Gold Division Championship.  With the win, the EastSide

Mafia gets their bid into the World Cup Tournament, along with #1

Autobody, Aztech, and the BlackOuts.

     Over at the 4-Man Silver Division, Mo Sizlak (West Islip, NY) worked their

balanced attack to wins over Sullivan Sports 14-13 in overtime, and the

Renegades 28-0 in the Championship game to win the Silver Division title. 

By winning the title, Mo Sizlak moves on to the World Cup along with the

Renegades.

     And concluding the day was the 5-Man Youth 16-under Division, which

saw the Bethlahem Backhanders (Delmar, NY) avenge their earlier loss in the

8-Man championship to Metro Sports by squeezing out a 14-13 victory in

overtime to win the 5-Man Youth Championship.
