The Team USA and Costa Rican teams made good time on the road to
Tegucigalpa, Honduras, where they played the first international
flag football in the capital city on Sept. 2 and 3.
The Team USA men teamed with Costa Rica to form an eight-man
contact team. The Tico/Yankee combo played the host-Hondurans in
two World Cup-style games, winning the first game, 13-0.
Honduras got in the groove in game two to win 20-6.
The Honduran women also got in on the act as they took part in
their first flag football game. They didn't get the highly
touted matchup with the Mexican women, who were no-shows at the
tournament, but they played a competitive game against a local
youth boys 15-and-under team.
Costa Rica and Team USA drove 14 hours from San Jose, Costa Rica
to attend the tournament, crossing two international borders.
The return-home trip was no easy task, as the Costa Ricans were
turned back at the border and were forced to return to
Tegucigalpa and fly home.
Two members of the American entourage wheeled-and-dealed their
way into Nicaragua, but the solo drive resulted in a scenic
drive through the countryside.
Other notable moments:
* Is that a cart and buggy in the road?
* Cost of driving without a seatbelt in the back seat - $12
($200 Cordobas) - payable in cash.
* Why is there two checkpoints before you get to Nicaragua?
* Driving through Nicaragua is more like spinning laps at the
Indy 500 - you can coast through the country at a mere 90 miles
per hour ... legally. Can Costa Rica get roads like that?
* How many people are going to ask me to exchange money at the
border?
* Kids at the border, they need shoes and a dentist.

Los Equipos
de Estados Unidos y Costa Rica hicieron buen tiempo de
camino a Tegucigalpa-Honduras, donde jugaron al primer
Flag Football Internacional en esta capital el 2 y 3 de
septiembre
El Equipo
de hombres USA se unieron con Costa Rica para formar un
equipo de contacto de ocho-hombre. El conjunto Tico/Yanqui
jugó a los anfitriónes-hondureños en dos juegos al
Estilo del Mundial, ganando el primer juego 13-0.
Mientras que en el Segundo encuntro el equipo hondureno
les hico probar el polvo ganando 20-6.
Las mujeres
hondureñas también se subieron al carrito con su
participacion en este primer juego de flag football.
Ellas no consiguieron el matchup (gran juego) muy
ofrecido con las mujeres mejicanas, quienes no se
prentaron para este torneo: aun y con este
contratiempo lograron tener un juego bastante
competitivo contra el equipo de chicos locales de la
juvenil 15.
Costa Rica y
el Equipo EEUU manejaron 14 horas de San Jose, Costa
Rica para asistir al torneo, cruzando dos fronteras
internacionales. El viaje de regreso a casa no fue tarea
fácil; ya que a los costarricenses no se les permito el
paso en frontera forzadolos a volver a Tegucigalpa y la
volar a casa.
